A chemical spill that occured around 3:30pm today near the City of Napa's pump station at Lake Hennessey has been contained on site.
The spill resulted in around 2,600 gallons of water containing potassium permanganate flowing into Conn Creek below Conn Dam. Crews took action to contain the spill within a short stretch of Conn Creek. The spill did not travel into Lake Hennessey or into the City's drinking water supply - there is no threat to public safety and water supplies remain safe. Fish and Game and other appropriate agencies were immediately notified of the spill, and the City assigned a cleanup contrator.
Potassium permanganate is used in water treatment to remove unwanted odors.
