The City Clerk is accepting applications from Napa Residents for a total of three openings; one to serve on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission (High School Representative), one to serve on the Civil Service Commission and one to serve on the Napa County Library Commission. Deadline for submission of applications is 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission is advisory to City Council and the Parks and Recreation Services Director on matters regarding recommendations on the acquisition, development and maintenance of parks; matters of public recreation and cultural activities of public interest within the City. Applicants must be City of Napa residents and registered voters. Seven members appointed by the City Council. One member is a non-voting high school student in the City of Napa.  This appointment is the High School Representative. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission meets on the second Wednesday of every other month.  Meetings being at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 955 School St., Napa.

The Civil Service Commission acts in an administrative capacity for the City Council on issues concerning personnel administration, classified service regulations, appeals by persons in the classified service regarding employment status or condition of employment, and provides recommendations to the City Council on salaries and new classifications in the classified service. The Civil Service Commission consists of five members. Two are appointed by the City Council, two are elected by classified employees, and one member is appointed by the other four Commission Members. This appointment shall be appointed by the Civil Service Commission. The members of the Civil Service Commission must be residents of the City of Napa for a continuous period of at least one year immediately preceding appointment of the Commission and must be registered voters.  The Civil Service Commission meets on the third Monday of each month. Meetings begin at 5:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 955 School St., Napa.

The Napa County Library Commission functions under the authority of the County Board of Supervisors, reports on matters concerning the Library, and serves as community advocates on behalf of the Library.  The Commission is made up of eight members appointed as follows: two appointed by the Napa City Council; three appointed by the County Board of Supervisors; one appointed by the Calistoga City Council; one appointed by the American Canyon City Council; and one appointed by the Yountville Town Council. Term of office is for a period of three years. The City of Napa representative to the Napa County Library Commission must be a resident of the City of Napa. Meetings are held the first Thursday of every other month.
