The City Clerk announces the existence of three openings on the Planning Commission. Appointees will serve two year terms. One of the seats must be filled by a design professional. The deadline for application is 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011.
The Planning Commission consists of five regular members responsible for the preparation, revision, and implementation of a comprehensive long term General Plan for the physical development of the City and surrounding area. The Commission conducts hearings and makes decisions and/or recommendations on a variety of land use applications, including use permits, variances, General Plan amendments, re-zonings and subdivision maps; and reviews and studies other such land use and planning issues as assigned to it by the City Council. Members of the Planning Commission are required to file Statements of Economic Interest with the Fair Political Practices, which are available for public inspection. Additionally, State law requires that members must complete two hours of training in ethics laws every two years.
Planning Commission members serve for a term of two years with a maximum term of six years. Planning Commissioners receive a stipend of $100 per Commission meeting. The Planning Commission meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
The members of the Commission must be residents of the City of Napa for a continuous period of at least one year immediately preceding appointment of the Commission and must be registered voters.
